Our first 2 weeks

Hello All

WOW - its been amazing so far! Busy busy busy - looking for jobs and apartments as well as keeping up with the soccer (oh, blasphamy, its called football here). Kire my brother wont let me forget about any Arsenal game, plus its kinda hard to ignore match days here - the extra 60,000 people dont go by quietly.

At the moment Tomasz and I are staying in my brothers apartment. For all of those that know London, its in Islington. This is a rather nice peice of real estate in an area which is famous for being where Tony Blair used to live before he made his move to number 10 Downing St. The houses look like they are straight out of a movie with the tree lined streets sprouting with colour of new spring folage. Its absolutley beautiful - everyday when I leave the house i think...wow!

oh - Arsenal nearly scored....I heard the crowd then watched it live on TV. I know Vladimir is very jealous right now.

Been thinking about and missing everyone - and especially the Sydney sun! I find myself always thinking...I could really go for a cup of tea right now and it finally hit me why Brittish people love tea so much....its to fight off the cold bloody weather!

Must go, will write again soon,

From Citigroup's newest employee,
Mare

PS: Promise some photos very sooon - we've been sight seeing and have plenty of happy snaps!

Our first notes on London

London's been a lot of fun. Its different than travelling in Thailand or South America in that its not as crazy. But its different from Australia because its more crazy. There is a lot more going on, more variety in people. That includes nationalities, social groups, and interests. There are a lot of freaky looking people (freaky by our Sydney standards).

Another quick interesting observation about London is that everything is packaged. Everything.
On our first day out on the town, we went to a convenients store and there were individually wrapped apples. In the supermarket, there are packaged vegies. We have that at home, but here there is no unpackaged option. It doesnt sound that great but when you see it, its wierd... the environment, all that plastic....

Anyways, one of the people we are staying with at the moment has gone to Paris for the weekend...as you do. And Arsenal and Fulham are playing in the Emirates Stadium next door to the apartment... we can here it when someone scores. Mare and I got caugh in the rush of people leaving the stadium after a game last week - 60 000 people leaving the stadium and us two going the other way to the apartment.

Tomorrow I start my new job!
